Social Competition Roster & Teams

Please note, the teams and round 1 (tomorrow) of the social competition have been posted on the Roster page. The Social Competition will run on 7, 14, 21 and 28th of July with a Final on Saturday 30th in the dive pool at 11.00am followed by a BBQ and presentations

For this first round, we’d like to ask all teams to be poolside no later than 7.30pm for a short introduction into the social roster.

Should you have any questions prior to tomorrow night, please direct them to Phillip Wells.

About Water Basketball Tasmania
Water Basketball is a sport developed by The Hobart Aquatic Centre. It involves two teams of 6 players, who pass the ball down the pool to their goal end, which is a hoop similar to basketball. Each player wears flippers (and a cap to identify which team they are playing for). Goals are scored as two or three points depending how far from the goals you are.

Thanks Andrew. The decision was made by the Board to reduce the competition from 8 weeks to 4 weeks because some members were unhappy with the concept. Given that it seems to be working, perhaps next time we can make it longer.

    Regards, Phillip

Thankyou Phillip, Kath and all those involved in organising the round Robin Social Competition. We finished Saturday with a great barbeque and an exciting final which was won on the last score of the day set up by a great pass fron Sylvester to Elias…A special thanks also to all the players who participated in the competition as well. Many patrons of the centre came over to watch, and we were given an opportunity to speak to Chris Wisby on Sunday ABC radio about the day and waterbasketball in general!
We will start a new season having lost only one team (the Crabs) and some new players who joined in on the social competition. I for one enjoyed the opportunity to play with others and loved the break for general business.

Great to have an even competition.Shame it can’t be longer than 4 weeks. The only losers are the ones not playing and it has brought the fun back into it which was badly needed.
