Rule Highlight: Playing in the Finals

With the Finals coming up, I’d like to direct your attention to Regulation 3 (particularly 3.4) and 6 (particularly 6.7). As outlined under 3.4, “a player must be registered and have played with a team at least 3 games before he/she is allowed to play for that team in the Finals, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Board”.

An existing exception to that is described under 6.7, “when a team has less than 6 players (registered with that team) available to play during Finals and the missing player(s) cannot play due to medical reasons (a medical certificate must be presented to a Board member before the game), replacement fill-in(s) may be used. They must be registered but can play regardless of whether they have played the minimum of 3 games with that team.”

A new exception will now be added to the regulations under 3.4, with regards to determining the number of times a registered player has played with a specific team for Finals purposes: “If a forfeit occurred, all players registered at the time of that game will be considered as having played that game.”

About Water Basketball Tasmania
Water Basketball is a sport developed by The Hobart Aquatic Centre. It involves two teams of 6 players, who pass the ball down the pool to their goal end, which is a hoop similar to basketball. Each player wears flippers (and a cap to identify which team they are playing for). Goals are scored as two or three points depending how far from the goals you are.
