The finals roster will be published this weekend, but you can be sure of course, that all teams will be playing in the Quarter Finals next week (31/5).

Social Competition

The Social Competition will commence directly after this 1st regular season on the 21st of June.

Like we did last year, we’ll be taking registrations via email, as of now. Peter Gardiner will be collating all registrations this year, so either send them to his email address (peter.gardiner@education.tas.gov.au) or use the enquiry form on this website. Although teams for that, and therefore the roster, will still need to be confirmed, the current plan is to run the social competition with 6 teams for 5 games (all on Thursdays, so ending 19/7), plus 1 Finals day on the follow Saturday 21/7, which includes a BBQ at the Aquatic Centre.

Players will be mixed relatively randomly, but consideration will be given to those traveling together to be put in the same team so do make mention of that if that’s the case. We usually know this already so will try and accommodate this in any case. Early registrations of new players (around 8 so far) have been positive, so feel free to encourage your friends to use the Social Competition as a way to try the game.

So please start sending in your registrations for the Social Competition. We aim to conclude that process around 14/6 (grand final week), so we can inform everyone of the teams and roster the weekend ahead of Social Competition start.

About Water Basketball Tasmania
Water Basketball is a sport developed by The Hobart Aquatic Centre. It involves two teams of 6 players, who pass the ball down the pool to their goal end, which is a hoop similar to basketball. Each player wears flippers (and a cap to identify which team they are playing for). Goals are scored as two or three points depending how far from the goals you are.
