Weekly Rule Highlight

As in previous seasons, fill-in scores for players registered with other teams (as well as those of non-registered players) count towards the team total during the first 3 rounds of every regular season (see Section 6 of the Regulations), which will give teams the opportunity to settle into the season. In addition, during the first 3 games of the season, there is no minimum of 4 own players requirement and the minimum of 4 players can be met through use of fill-ins from other teams.

Fill-in scores are, during the entire season, noted in the score sheet’s Fill-In section for the team and fill-in players are excluded from top-scoring and Best & Fairest stats for their fill-in game(s).

Round 4 onwards goals from fill-in players registered with another team do not count (and are not noted on the scoresheet). Scores from new (non-registered) players however continue to count and should still be noted in the Fill-In section of the scoresheet. Once a player has played 3 games with any team, they must register for THAC water basketball and nominate a specific team, as agreed with its captain. During the remainder of the season (after the first 3 games) the minimum of 4 own players or forfeit rule (see 3.5.4) applies.

About Water Basketball Tasmania
Water Basketball is a sport developed by The Hobart Aquatic Centre. It involves two teams of 6 players, who pass the ball down the pool to their goal end, which is a hoop similar to basketball. Each player wears flippers (and a cap to identify which team they are playing for). Goals are scored as two or three points depending how far from the goals you are.
