2016 S1 Roster

The full roster for the first season of 2016 has been published on the Roster page, including the umpiring schedule for the first 4 rounds. Please keep an eye out for ‘no game’ dates, particularly during season 1.

The roster page also contains a link to the planner for the entire year. At this stage one of the no game dates during the 2nd regular season is still unclear, but that will be confirmed by the time that season starts.

As you can see in the planner (and mentioned at the last awards night), the aim this year is to have a single awards night out at the end of the year (3 Dec, mark it in your calendar!) where we hope to see all teams and during which awards for both regular seasons will be presented. A fun night out at a venue to be determined. We’ll need your help finding a good venue, where we can have some drinks, food, music and presentations, so if something suitable comes to mind (low/no cost, reasonably central) then please mention it to a board member.

The list of umpires for the upcoming season has been posted on the relevant page and at this stage there is room for one more volunteer from one of the following teams: Beached Az, Brothers, Ducks or Sea Snakes. Applications, or any questions regarding umpiring can be directed to John and myself.

It would be greatly appreciated if all players could familiarise themselves with the Duty responsibilities as well as the Regulations before the start of the season. Note that Sylvie is unable to play this season, so please don’t count on him for the set up of equipment when your team has the first Duty time slot.

About Water Basketball Tasmania
Water Basketball is a sport developed by The Hobart Aquatic Centre. It involves two teams of 6 players, who pass the ball down the pool to their goal end, which is a hoop similar to basketball. Each player wears flippers (and a cap to identify which team they are playing for). Goals are scored as two or three points depending how far from the goals you are.
