The ladder and top scoring rankings have also been updated under Statistics. Congratulations to Jemma Dazeley (The Nuts) who took out the top spot with 276 points (word is that she arranged for Tony to have a cycling ‘accident’ mid-season). Markus Bucher (Sharks) ended up in second spot with 210 points, followed closely by Sam Scandrett (Beached Az) with 205.

Round 14 was the last round of the regular part of the competition and we’re now heading into the 3-week finals period. The Roster has been updated and at the bottom of that page you will also find the new planning for the 2017-18 financial year.

Check the Regulations for the Fill-in and Team member requirements during the finals.

The first Water Basketball Tasmania Annual General Meeting was held last night, for which the minutes will be emailed to the team captains (for distribution to their players) soon. Some of the major points are that the re-negotiated fees for the next couple of years look achievable without too much increase in membership fees (provided we keep our 8 teams running), we should have some cash available to put towards equipment (balls, nets, etc) and that the current Board has been re-elected to continue as is for the next financial year. Thanks to those taking the time to attend.

Lastly, due to booking constraints, we have had to move the Winter Water Basketball Dinner out one more week, to take place on Saturday 1 July. Further details will be emailed to the captains, but to summarise, the dinner will be held upstairs at the Ball & Chain (time to be confirmed) with a choice of fish, steak, lamb shanks or chicken (combined with the renowned B&C salad bar) for around $35 to be paid in advance. Drinks can be purchased separately at the upstairs bar.

You’ll need to RSVP (we’ll do that via the captains & email) by Friday 9 June at the latest, and we’ll need payments by Friday 16 June. Information on how to pay (will be cash or a bank transfer) will be sent to the captains as well. Partners are welcome; we hope as many of you as possible will come along to help make the event a success 🙂

About Water Basketball Tasmania
Water Basketball is a sport developed by The Hobart Aquatic Centre. It involves two teams of 6 players, who pass the ball down the pool to their goal end, which is a hoop similar to basketball. Each player wears flippers (and a cap to identify which team they are playing for). Goals are scored as two or three points depending how far from the goals you are.
